Overclockers aim for 6 GHz and beyond at NVISION
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LAN parties and overclocking go together like cheese and pizza, bread and butter, well you get the picture.
At the NVISION conference and lan party in San Jose this week,
several overclockers are attempting to boost their processors to six gigahertz and beyond.
It’s all in the name of fun and friendly competition and “Fugger”,
the owner of xtremesystems.org, showed off his three-stage cooler that chills CPUs to minus 100 degrees …
that’s Celsius, not Fahrenheit.

Go naked with Antec’s Skeleton case
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While some computer cases have clear panels to let you see all the wonderful cards and motherboards,
how about making a case with no panels at all.
That’s exactly what Antec is doing with their upcoming SKELETON CASE.
Resembling a rounded pyramid, the case sports plastic arches that are great for carrying and a strong rolled-steel bottom for stability.
SILENTPC have done a review and some nice pics, you can even listen to the large top fan on a link to You Tube.
What bothers me is that mine and most peoples houses are dust traps and I have no pets or children in the house.
My pc runs 24x7 and at the moment I have to clean my case filters twice a week, an open pc would worry me.
If you look closely at the pics in the first link, you can see the dust but I must say the idea of an open case intrigues me.
I Just Don't Think It Is Practical Anywhere Except In Lab Conditions.
If You Go To Page 2 At SilentPc You Will See The New P183 & Sonata Elite Cases.
THIS IS THE BEST LINK TO SEE A WORKING MODEL OF THE SKELETON CASE.

UT3 "Hacker" Melee Weapon Released
by hal at BeyondUnreal (UT 3 Modifications)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Straight from Fraghouse comes a melee weapon modification that promises to bring lots more gore and fun to UT3. Hacker CAN BE DOWNLOADED (833 KB) from BeyondUnreal FileWorks and the description and tasty screenshots can be found below.
"Designed as a reinstatement of a blade-based melee weapon for the Tournament (and replacing the Impact Hammer), the Liandri Hacker is a durable tarydium-powered mining tool that can cut through tough materials with little to no resistance, including flesh. Primary fire initialises the high-speed circular saw, whereas secondary fire engages the rubble-clearing electrical discharge, which is powerful enough to launch vehicles around and destroy them in two or three hits. The resulting [configurable] recoil will also propel the user backwards, and so can be used to "hop" across great distances."

New UE3 Title Announced: Fairytale Fights
by hal at BeyondUnreal (U-Engine Games)
The Game Factory developers seem to be taking a page out of the American McGee vision of twisted fairytales with their newly announced Unreal Engine 3 title: Fairytale Fights. A preview at GAMESPOT finds our protagonist, Little Red Riding Hood, painting the scenery red with her cache of knives, shotgun, and spiked club.
..when Red was attacked by a pack of four animals, she didn't look frightened at all. Rather, she got a maniacal look in her eyes, pulled a knife out from underneath her hood, and set about slicing her attackers. The game's "slicing system" is sophisticated enough to cut off enemy limbs or even cut them right down the middle without having the path of the knife predetermined at all. We saw enemies cut almost exactly down the middle, we saw them lose arms, and on one occasion, we even saw an enemy lose his eyes along with the top of his head after stumbling into a large bear trap.

Intel shows off 16 GB DDR3 DIMMs at IDF
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can’t have enough RAM, as is often said in the computer world, and Intel has demoed 16 GB RAM sticks at its Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco.
The RAM is made by Hynix and uses technology from MetaRAM to stack all the individual DRAMs onto the stick.
Intel reps showed off the memory inside a number crunching server that was populated with 10 of these sticks.
Making a total capacity of 160 GB of memory – heck some people don’t even have hard drives this big.
